Adsite.co.uk is a free classified ads site helping people sell items within their local community. We also provide advertising space for local business.
Buying
If you are looking to buy an item on adsite.co.uk you can either browse the categories or use our search engine at the top of each page. You do not need to be a member to search ads or contact a seller, although you will need to leave an email address for the seller to get back to you. Leaving your phone number for the seller to get back to you at this stage is optional.
Please read our 'Safety Advice' and always exercise caution with any transaction.
Selling
In order to sell an item on adsite.co.uk you will need to register. You will receive an automated email to confirm your registration. Once you have registered with us an account is automatically created for you. Simply log in and go to your 'my ads' page. From there you can create, edit or delete your adverts.
To 'create a new ad' complete the details for your advert and include a photo if you wish. Choose the category in which you wish your ad to appear; the length of time you want your ad to show and the area in which you want to place your ad. Finally click on 'create advert' and your ad will be visible online. You will automatically receive an email confirming the details of the advert placed.
My Account
You may change your details, email address or password from 'my account'.
My Ads
This is where you create, edit or delete any number of adverts. Once adverts have been created they will be shown in a list in 'my ads'.
To edit an advert click on the item name; the details of your advert will be shown for you to make changes and re-submit. From here you can also extend the duration for your advert to be shown.
To delete an ad simply click in the delete column for the appropriate advert.
If you wish to temporarily remove an ad click in the 'showing' column. If a tick is visible the advert is showing on the site, if an x is visible the advert is not showing.
If you wish to view your advert as it is shown within the chosen category; click on the category as shown in 'my ads'.
To view your advert, click view.
Safety Advice
Safety when buying
Always exercise caution when dealing with people you don't know. Not everyone is honest and trustworthy.
Take care when visiting a seller's home; for safety take someone with you.
Buyer beware! Private sales have no legal comeback if faulty, so always check goods thoroughly before parting with your money.
Keep a record of contact details for the people you are visiting or those visiting you.
Never send cash or cheques through the post.
Never pay for an item in advance.
Remember adsite.co.uk is designed to be a local community adsite, if you use it as intended and deal with people face to face you will avoid a situation where you may have paid for an item that you are unlikely to receive.
Protect your identity and your finances; never give personal information or any bank details.
Safety when selling
Beware fraudsters. These often make contact with short emails which may be rather vague; they may refer to 'the item' you are selling without being specific on what it is and may simply request more information.
Overpayment scam. You may be offered far more than the item cost and asked to refund the difference when the cheque has cleared - although the cheque may initially clear into your bank - payment will be refused later and you will be liable for the loss.
Often these emails are sent from abroad and English may be poor. Don't entertain any such negotiations. Remember adsite.co.uk is designed to be a local community adsite, if you use it as intended and deal with people face to face you are unlikely to fall prey to this type of scam.
If you spot an illegal advert please let us know so that we can remove the advert and keep the offenders from using the site.
For valuable items ask for cash or a banker's draft. In the case of bankers drafts it is wise to go to the bank together and watch it being drawn.
